About Ana Caicedo Macia

Hola! I’m Ana Caicedo Macia - a Colombian-American documentarian, creative producer, and storyteller with a soft spot for community, connection, and really good coffee.

I’m originally from Bogotá, and have been calling Wellington, Aotearoa home since 2019. I hold an MFA in Film from Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington, where I deepened my love for documentary-style storytelling and my fascination with asking, “But what’s really going on here?”

My creative practice is rooted in listening to people, to place, and to the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. Whether I’m producing, filming, editing, or story advising, I bring deep curiosity and care to every project I touch. I’ve collaborated with artists, activists, government agencies, and everyday humans to craft stories that feel real, intimate, and alive.

Some recent highlights include co-editing Fiordland Kiwi Diaries (a three-part series for the Department of Conservation), working on The Turning Point with Ocular and RNZ, and producing award-winning shorts like Buzzkill and Life’s a Drag. I also worked with director Tarek Albaba on 36 Seconds: A Portrait of a Hate Crime, which received the Subject Matter Award at DOC NYC. Currently, I’m in post-production, editing Specialty-a docuseries about Wellington’s rich coffee culture and the people who pour their hearts into every cup.

I’ve worn many hats: project coordinator, editor, cinematographer, hype woman, logistics wizard, and on-set documentarian. At the core of it all, I’m a storyteller. One who believes that when we tell stories that matter, we open doors for empathy, for understanding, for change.

When I’m not deep in an edit or out capturing life with my camera, you’ll find me testing recipes, writing poems I may or may not share, or hunting down the best flat white in town

(research purposes, obviously).

This site is my creative playground - thanks for stopping by.
